Summary: The beginnings of a friendship between Liechtenstein and Belarus.

“How does this look?” asked Liechtenstein as she modeled the blue sundress she was wearing in front of the mirror. “It’s not too bad is it?”

Belarus gave the dress a good once over before speaking. “It’s fine but the red one looked better on you. Also, the red one matches the shoes you bought.”

Liechtenstein looked down at the dress. “It does, does it? I guess I’ll buy the red one then. Thank you Belarus.” she said before stepping away from the mirror and walking back to the dressing room to change.

“You’re welcome,” murmured Belarus but Liechtenstein had already entered her stall. She crossed her arms and frowned. What was she doing here with this girl anyway? Why did she accept Liechtenstein’s invitation to come to her capital city to hang out with her?

‘Why did she call me in the first place?’ she thought. ‘She could have called Belgium, Hungary or even my sister to go shopping with her. But she called me. It doesn’t make sense.’

Maybe it’s because she wants to be your friend, said a little voice in her head.

‘That’s stupid. I don’t need any friends. I have Brother and Sister.’

But you need someone other than them at times. And she’s perfect.

‘We’re too different from each other. She’s too- too...’

“Um...” a voice cut in, stopping Belarus’s fight with her inner voice, “Excuse me miss. Can I help you find something?”

Belarus turned around to see one of the store’s workers. It was a timid little woman who looked really intimidated to be near to her. She gave the woman a small glare. “No. I’m fine,” she said flatly.

“I think you should get something Bela-I mean Natalia,” said Liechtenstein who had appeared behind her, dressed in her normal clothes. “You haven’t bought anything all day!”

“I haven’t felt like buying anything. Also, I think there is nothing in here I would like.” Belarus gestured to the rack of clothes around her. Most of the dresses and blouses had soft colors or were bright. Nothing she would wear.

“I bet there is,” said a determined Liechtenstein. She turned to the sales woman. “Do you have any darker colors? My friend here likes those.”

The sales woman thought for a moment and then snapped her fingers, “I believe we do. They are in the back near the wall. You can’t miss them.”

“Thank you so much for your help, miss,” Liechtenstein said sweetly before taking Belarus’s hand and dragging her to the back of the store. “Now let’s get you something pretty.”

Belarus rolled her eyes a little. “Fine. I’ll buy one dress. And only one dress,” she declared.

“Great!” exclaimed a giddy Liechtenstein before she tugged Belarus along faster. “Come on. We still have a lot to do today after we’re done here!”

“What? We have more to do?”

“Of course! You didn’t think I just invited you to come all this way to just shop, did you?”

“But-”

Liechtenstein cut her off when she pointed a few dresses on a rack. “Oh! Those look would look nice on you.” Liechtenstein let go of Belarus’s hand and went over to the rack and pulled out a navy blue dress.

“How does this one look?”

“The color is fine, but that’s not even my style,” Belarus said before go over to the rack itself to search for a dress with Liechtenstein. As Belarus was pulling out dresses to see how they would look, she noticed that Liechtenstein was smiling at her.

“What?” she asked.

“This is fun, isn’t it?” she asked as she went back to thumbing through the rack.

“What is?”

“Picking out clothes to wear and hanging out like this,” she said. Liechtenstein glanced at her. “You are having fun, aren’t you?”

Belarus thought for a few moments. Was she really having fun with this girl? Then she nodded. “Yes, I am. I’m really enjoying myself.”

Liechtenstein smiled. “Good. Now go try those on and see how those will look on you.”

“Okay.” Belarus turned to walk to the dressing room. She had a little smile on her face.

‘I could get used to this, I think.’
